What are fillers?
Fillers are substances that are injected in wrinkles and fold lines to smooth their appearance. The pouty full lips done with fillers have become very fashionable at the moment as a symbol of sensuality and youth. Fillers can be used as well for face contouring or filling scars. Depending on the type of substance used the effects can be permanent or temporary but long lasting.

Restylane Touch, Restylane & Restylane Perlane are known as facial fillers. They contain a substance known as non-hyaluronic acid, which exists naturally in the body. It's most important function is to carry and bind water and it has been shown to lift and give new firmness when injected in to the skin. One of the great advantages of Hyaluronic acid is that it is long lasting but not permanent. This gives the treatment great flexibility because you are always in charge of your look.

How long do the effects last?
Results are immediate. Most patients choose to have a top-up 6 to 12 months after an initial treatment for wrinkles and facial contouring and after about 6 months for lip enhancements.

What areas of the face can be treated?
Most facial areas can be treated, but the most popular are the forehead, around the eyes, nose to mouth lines, lines at each side of the mouth and also smokers' lines around the mouth. With Perlane, the lips can be enhanced and made fuller or the cheeks of the face can also be contoured.

Is it painful?
A local anaesthetic cream is used prior to treatment to lessen any discomfort.

How long does the treatment take?
It is best to allow an hour for treatment as topical anaesthetic is applied about 40mins before the procedure. While the anaesthetic is working, medical consultation and consent forms are completed.
